‘Know Your Notes’ Contest Campaign on Social Media for Money View

September 24, 2015

We have had the privilege handling digital marketing for numerous high growth and robust startups that are working on game changing products and services. One such startup is MoneyView, which is an app that lets you manage your finances and behaves as your personal finance manager.

The app was launched in September last year and they engaged with us for all their social media activities and promotions. Over the last 5 months, we have devised and successfully implemented numerous strategies to spread awareness, drive engagement and app downloads.

One of the activities we carry out regularly is having contests – contests are fun, engaging and always draw users to the page or twitter handle.

Here’s an overview of the process we follow while carrying out the ideation for the contest as well as how we conducted the entire contest inclusive of the pre-contest build up and promotions.

Concept

Keeping in mind MoneyView’s brand guidelines and their objectives, we decided to come up with a fun  contest titled Know Your Notes. The idea was to get people to notice the finer details of the Indian currency notes which we normally wouldn’t notice or give importance to. Another reason why we chose this topic was because it made a lot of sense from a marketing point of view – it would make people actually engage themselves in the topic.

Concept Preparation

For the contest, we came up with 5 questions based on 5 Indian currency notes of different denominations. The most intriguing feature of each note was taken into consideration when creating the questions for the Know Your Notes contest.

Pre-Contest Promotion

The build up for the contest was done on Twitter by reaching out to around 400 relevant Twitter handles, asking the users to participate in the contest being conducted on Facebook.

During the Contest

Once the contest was live, we sent out tweets informing Twitter users that the contest had begun. The number of participants was huge, with a lot of users tagging their friends and asking them to participate, thereby increasing the total number of participants.

Post Contest

Post the contest, the winners were selected from the huge number of participants by going through their responses individually. This took us a while given the massive response and engagement the contest brought with it! The winners were given gift vouchers worth INR 6,000 and MoneyView T-shirts as prizes. A real fun contest that was!
